Arts
At Springhallow, it is essential for pupils to develop their musical abilities, become more musical and progress as musicians. The curriculum is designed to ensure progression and the three I’s at Springhallow (Intent – what is meant to be learnt; Implementation – how we plan to meet the intent and Impact – how effective the implementation was.)
The curriculum aims to achieve this through improving pupils’ ability to control and manipulate sound, enhance pupils’ knowledge of the inter-related dimensions of music and building blocks of compositions and to support pupils’ understandings of the social significance and cultural meanings of different types of music. These small steps have been designed in order to allow pupils to reach high quality outcomes in Music, participate in making and composing music for a variety of relevant purposes in group and individual contexts and to make great progress in the subject.
Music has a range of further benefits for our pupils. For example, developing a love of music is significant towards supporting pupils’ well-being; Music helps to develop pupils’ ability to work collaboratively, supports their gross and fine motor skills, develops their speaking and listening skills, enhances their vocabulary, provides much enjoyment, many opportunities for creativity and can improve thier overall well-being.
In the past, pupils have had the opportunity to perform at many different settings/events, such as The Royal Albert Hall where they were joined by Ed Sheeran on stage, and these are some of the experiences pupils cherish the most from school, providing them with huge amounts of happiness, satisfaction and long-term transferable skills to take into adult life.”

Global superstar Ed Sheeran joins Springhallow Pupils on Stage.
Magpie Class and some P16 students took part in The West London Inclusive Live Arts Festival (14 – 16 May) at the Royal Albert Hall and were joined on stage by a very special guest – Global superstar Ed Sheeran!
Ed Sheeran watched Springhallow pupils perform a rendition of “Learn to fly”. Ed was blown away by how brilliant pupils were in the show and how amazing they sang! He then joined pupils on stage to sing his song “Perfect” alongside them, which was an unforgettable experience for all!
Pupils should be so proud of themselves for their performance and hard work. A massive thank you to the staff at Springhallow for their support and to the Arts Team at Springhallow for organising, facilitating and planning this fantastic performance and unforgettable experience.
