Our School Day
The school day officially starts at 9.00am and finishes at 3.15pm, however a soft start and end of the day is in place to support successful transitions. The timings for the school day at Post 16 are 9.00am till 3.00pm.
Classes follow a timetable and benefit from a wide range of lessons adapted from the National Curriculum. There is a strong focus on developing essential life skills as well as increasing subject knowledge. The Secondary and Post 16 curriculums are embedded with opportunities to develop functional skills.
Pupils benefit from integrated support from Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists within their individual education plans and EHCPs. Targets are set with the class staff with support to deliver interventions, regularly monitored by the allocated therapist. The development of these skills is supported all day, every day.
All pupils have a daily mid-morning break of 20 minutes.
Lunch is served from 12pm for primary aged pupils and is taken in their classrooms. The secondary and post 16 lunch time is from 12.30pm and taken in the Dining Hall or Common Room.
